| There are three burning issues when a family member got mental illness. |
- The moment the employer came to know that employee has mental illness, he is dismissed immediately and if the employer happens to be lone breadwinner, the suffering is all the more severe.
- To take care of the sick, one family member has to forgo his job.
- Because the mentally ill is at home, doing nothing, the psychopathology worsens, patient loses his hope. All these lead to economicand social burden of caretakers.

It is the responsibility of people in a better position to helps these suffering brethrens.
With a small beginning with 6 members, Nambikkai- has given hope and joy to more than 250 disabled people. |

We adopt TOKEN Economy Policy, where the inmates are given salary based their contribution to the work and profit. Our aim is to see the smile and happiness in the face of innocent people. We provide daily recreational activities like caroms, chess and stimulating video games etc Evenings they have regular Yoga exercise. We take them to tours, picnics, cinemas periodically. |

Placement Services |
We always strive for the progress of the inmates. With the help of noble hearted business people, we arrange for the placement of the inmates in a suitable position. They are also periodically monitored for their needs. We have succeeded in 37 such inmates. Some have started production of candles, phenoyl etc on their own and make them. This adds cap to TRUST. |

| Free Medicine Scheme |

The concept of rehabilitation will be a total failure, if we don’t ensure regular drug compliance of inmates. And there are few other patients also who cannot afford to buy medicine outside. Every 7th of the month, we supply medicine to about 150 people. The monthly budget for medicine at Nambikai alone is Rs.25000/- p.m.

| This center at present functions in Trichy city only. We proposed to start similar projects in other towns also. For the above services to maintain and progress and enroll more patients, we require donors to sponsor medicine, salary, and also adopt inmates. |

All are aware that suicide is on the rise globally more so in India. As many as 15/1, 00,000 commit suicide in India alone, which is a very high death rate. Ten times more people survive suicide. Though the main cause of suicide is biological vulnerability of the individual, major depression, stressors like failure in exam, love affairs, profession, business, property dispute, family dispute, marital |

| conflicts, alcoholism, and negative influence of mass media act as precipitants. Most of the time, the suicidal act is an impulsive one without any advanced planning, unable to control the aggression, disappointments and harsh ego (suicide is MURDER at 180*). |
If by any mean we can appeal to the rational and thinking of individual, give a patient sympathetic hearing, most of the suicides can be prevented. The suicidal individual contact well trained counselors, ventilate their emotion, express their problem, get psychological and maximum possible other supports. |

The most important aspects of the SPC (Suicide Prevention Centre) is that the clients are accepted as human on the whole with their virtues and defects and they can be confident that they have a friend to confide. They feel more relaxed, start thinking rationally and they are given guidance to solve their problems. Severely depressed clients are referred to psychiatrist for Medical Management. So far, more than 1000 such clients have been benefited. Many family disasters were prevented through our counseling. |
